Another idea to add onto this. The money collected from people salvaging their particular mods at the weapon smith would go to a general bank. This would then be used to help out players that are new to the game or have no guild. There would of course limit the amount of money someone can take out but I think the idea is solid. It would then stop them from flooding the game channel asking for money from random people.

Why would this be a good idea? People will just keep deleting their characters and farming the bank!
Might as well just equip each character with FoW armor, and a crystaline sword right from the beginning.

No you couldn't do that because the server records how much was taken, and records it on your account, so it would be impossible to do that. All I am saying is give a NEW person a chance to get some money in the beginning. They will get generally what they want anyway if they join a guild or beg for it in game chat. This will help people that don't know what they are doing and people that are constantly are being told to go away for asking simple questions.
Its personally frustrating when I see some one who is new, ask a question, and get shot down by lvl 20's, people with FOW armor, etc. I always take the time to answer questions any new person asks because its a large game and its confusing at first. We were all new once.
Sorry to go off topic a bit.

Still a bad idea. There's no point. Everyone would be entitled to that same amount of money, and this isn't a real world, so money come in and out of the game all the time.

Pick-and-choose salvage should be implemented, but it should also be costly, no less than 1 plat per use, maybe even more. Why, you ask? Hmmm, 10-100g for a guaranteed chance to extract that +30 staff wrapping, which you know will sell for 50k? Nah, I don't think so. Too low a price will flood the market with perfect mods, and good grief, we have enough spammers in Lion's Arch as it is.

Your right, it should probably be more, I was just giving an example. However, you can't set the price too high because most of the items that are dropped don't have perfect mods on them but are still worth salvaging to put on your weapons or sell them of course. Plus if you think about it, if there is a high cost of salvaging your mods, its going to drive the price of the mods up even more because people will charge what they paid to salvage the item, onto the price of the mod they are trying to sell.
